The second National Fire Academy Kentucky Weekend was held in Owensboro on November 4th and 5th, 2000.

AREA 3 FIRE RESCUE TRAINING and the GREEN RIVER FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION served as hosts for the weekend. The Weekend is sponsored and provided by the Kentucky Fire Commission.

During classes, students learn from the experiences of others as they work to on student activities.

Classes at Owenboro were filled with fire service personnel. Above students participate in the class "Community Risk Issues and Prevention Interventions" presented by Beverly Burns from Arizona.

Classes at the NFA Weekend provide the latest in information and as you can see above, late into the afternoon, students are still wide awake and making notes.

Students that complete the weekend are provided with a National Fire Academy Certificate in addition to receiving Fire Commission training hours. Above Marilyn and Ronnie start the process of preparing certificates for the students.

Lunch is provided each day at the NFA weekends by the Kentucky Fire Commission. Many chose to start on this end of the line with desert first.

As always, someone has to be the first through the lunch line.

The NFA Weekends provide an opportunity to visit with friends from around the state.

We encourage all firefighters to take advantage of the National Fire Academy Weekends provided each fall by your Kentucky Fire Commission.
