NATIONAL FIRE ACADEMY COURSES

 

INCIDENT SAFETY OFFICER

 

 

Objective: This course examines the Safety Officer’s role at emergency responses. A specific focus on operations within an Incident Command System (ICS) as a Safety Officer is a main theme. Response to all-hazards types of situations will be emphasized.

Flexible Scheduling: Departments may choose to schedule this entire course or any one or more modules.

Course times are estimates and will vary depending on size and participation of the audience.

Certificates: Students who complete all modules of this course will receive a National Fire Academy Certificate.

Degree Program: Students who complete all modules of the Incident Safety Officer course and pass the exam will receive 0.4 college credit hours for FRT 102 and 0.3 college credit hours for FRT 133 for a total of 0.7 credit hours.

Module 1 Introduction .75 hours

Module 2 Role of the Incident Safety Officer 4 hours

Module 3 Regulations, Standards and Policies 2 hours

Module 4 Recordkeeping and Documentation 2 hours

Module 5 Risk Management 3.5 hours

Module 6 Incident Considerations: Communications

And Monitoring 2.5 hours

Total course is 15 hours in length. Departments may request entire course or any combination of one or more modules.
