INITIAL RESPONSE TO
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENTS : BASIC CONCEPTS
Objective: The participant will be able to define and identify hazardous materials and their potential dangers, access resources appropriate to the emergency, and ensure personal safety when functioning as a hazardous materials first responder.
Description: This course is designed to give the participant an understanding of the basic concepts and techniques of hazardous materials first response. Instruction is based on 29 CFR 1910.120 (OSHA) and 40 CFR 311 (EPA), but does not include "hands on" practical applications.
This course is 12 hours in length.
